Goal Setting

I spent some time thinking over what is it I value and evaluating the goals I have set. I am excited to begin this journey with a clear picture in my head of what I want my achievements to be. My goals can be classified as both professional and personal or as long-term and short-term. There is an overlap and continuity of objectives necessary for my goals to be successful. Each of these goals leads to achieving a sense of success and satisfaction. Due to the completeness in my goal setting process, I realized that satisfaction is reachable even if success is not achievable. My intent is to concentrate on professional goals using my short-term goals to support and work toward fulfilling my long-term goals.

Professionally it is my intent to obtain employment with a multi-national company. Further it is my intention to complete my studies with an eye towards completing another curriculum for MA in Psychology with a Major in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Here are my goals as segmented:

Short-Term

Get experience or training by attending professional development seminars. • Learn new technology.
• Develop my general written and oral communication skills.
• Obtain some experience in a different job in a different department so as to set an edge with my cross-functionality.
• Actively participate in a social and church organization.
• Enroll in Graduate Course

Long-Term

• Have a stimulating, challenging job that leaves me with time and energy for my personal goals.
• Attain a position in company with an administrative capacity or a lead position, where I will have a lot of autonomy; area not important, but would like to have contact with people.
• Own and grow my own business (a restaurant and a cafĂ©).
• Grow my investment cash-flow beyond my cost of living (financial independence).
• Work for a non-profit organization while helping young people and be a mentor.
• Help people discover the true meaning of life and how GOD is the real deal.
• Commit to public service, pro bono work and community service.

My personal goal is to for keep myself healthy, mentally, physically and spiritually since without it nothing is possible. I find that it is challenging to set family goals and to make sure that we are all on the same page, in agreement, and working towards the same goals.

Here are my goals as categorized:

Short-Term

• Take a stress management course.
• Attend to photo shoots and VTR schedules.
• No more Friday night outs. Avoid Alcohol-spree gimmicks.
• Save up for trip to Palawan and Davao.

Long Term

• Make more time for myself.
• Appear in a TV commercial and print-ad.
• Provide a caring and supportive environment for my family.
• Take overseas trips.
• Open new savings and investment bank accounts.

I think much of our days go by too fast making us susceptible to be trapped in a routine. That could entail doing the same thing every day or having the same mindset of climbing the corporate ladder as high as possible.

To be keenly self-aware I evaluate every action I take and access whether those motivations or actions are really going be an asset to me in the end. Sometimes I match it with "big dreams" and other times it made me realize what I "really want in life."

After that, I think professional goals will come into place. I have some set professional goals but I am expecting them to change once I learn more about myself -- which is a continual process. I just want to find myself passionate in my work; only then can I do a good job.
